Greek Waves frit painted fused glass plate

Description

Inspired by ancient Greek key patterns of running waves this frit painted plate brings a little of the ancient world into your home. The three dimensional glass frit vividly evokes the spume and foam of the sea waves.

Frit painting is a process of grinding up sheet glass into various sizes of powders and using those powders on top of other sheet glass, similar to sand painting. The layers of frit and sheet glass are then kiln fired to over 1500 degrees F. Additional frits and sheet glass may be added as the patterns begin to develop. Multiple firings and often extensive finishing work on the cold glass mean that most kiln fired fused glass has been literally days in preparation.

We utilize the finest in fusible glass and grind our own frit powders. Our wrought iron stands are made up the road a piece here in Texas. Everything about our work is hand made.

This art piece is signed and numbered by the artist. It will never be duplicated. The piece measures 9 inches around, the stand adds another inch in height. The stand is included.
