Blackbird Mirror Cabinet

Description

This is a small cabinet constructed of 1/2" wood, embellished with fired ceramic clay and hand painted with acrylics. Measures 14 1/2" x 14 1/2" x 5 1/2" deep, it has one removeable shelf, a hook closure and it includes security hangers to prevent it from being knocked or pulled off the wall. It comes with a mirror that could be removed and replaced with clear textured glass or any other kind you'd like.

This is one of a kind. Because of the mixed-media approach to construction there may be some fragile components and should be handled with care. (the wings of the birds overhang the edge, they are made of fired ceramic clay, but if they were hit with a hard object, the tips could snap off. Not recommended for children.

Although I may repeat a theme I find particularly interesting, each of my boxes are individually crafted. They’re not meant to be examples of perfection but have a quality of simplicity or primitiveness about them. The use of found objects and hand-constructed elements adds to this concept. This is important because I find it lends a sense of whimsy and/or eccentricity, which is the spirit in which I approach each piece. These containers are meant to be used, albeit handled with care. I would like to think that many years from now they'll still be around, maybe a little battered and dirty but treasured as an odd remnant from the past.

SHIPPING for the United States, for those interested in shipping outside the US please contact me with an address. This would probably only be practical for Canada or Mexico but it doesn’t hurt to ask. There are size restrictions on packages shipped outside the US so you'll need to contact me for additional information.
