Upcycle Yarn - Plarn - Making Service
Description
Do you have oodles of plastic bags lying around? Love knitting or crocheting? Want to make the world a better place? Well, send those gazillions of bags to me and I'll make some Upcycle Yarn, or Plarn, for you! Here's what you'll need to do:1) Save your plastic bags
2) Mail them to me (You pay shipping)
3) I spin up the yarn and mail the skein back to you (You pay shipping).
I charge 20 cents per yard. A standard-sized plastic grocery bag yields around 4 yards. All bags sent must be *CLEAN*--this means free of sand, dirt, sugar, bugs, dried up liquids, etc. If the bags you send are dirty, I will not spin it up and will not send them back to you.
If you have old cassette tapes lying around and would like that spun into your skein of Upcycle, please *rewind* the tapes and send them along with the bags. There is no extra charge for this. (See the first three photos for examples of this)
I can add some paper beads for an additional 30 cents per bead. Any color is possible for the beads. (See the first photo for an example of this)
Finally, ****PLEASE**** click buy, but do not pay until I send you a money request. This will happen after I receive your plastic bags in the mail and have spun them. Once I have received your bags, please allow at least 2 weeks for completion of your Upcycle yarn. It can take longer depending on how many bags you send and time of the semester for me (I'm a doctoral student and midterms/finals time gets hectic). Note that photos in this listing are examples of previous Upcycle yarns I have spun. Yours will be completely unique!
