waterfire letterpress print

water overpowers fire in this wood type letterpress print. why? two juxtaposed and very very different memories/experiences/images: WaterFire in Providence, Rhode Island, and the fires that erupted amidst the floodwaters of Katrina from bursting gas lines. meh. don't ask me. i'm having a kind of weird life.

all prints sold by Bright are designed, set, and printed by hand by melissa bastian (yeah, that's me). due to the nature of oldschool hand setletterpress (as opposed to the newfangled polymer plate stuff that you see everywhere nowadays, which is also cool but different), each print is unique in its heaviness of inking, the imperfections of the type, etcetera... which is really part of the charm. after all, you're buying handmade on Etsy for a reason, right? on this particular print the colors are rich and vivid, really striking. I'm fond of it.
