Fall has passed but the acorns remain! This leaf and acorn are dry felted from wool roving in shades of rose, clay and purple with embroidery and bead accents. The leaf measures approx. 3 inches (7.6 cm) long and 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) wide. The acorn is 1.25 inches (3.2 cm)long including the genuine amethyst bead on its tip. The silver plated lapel/hat pin is approx. 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) long.

It would also make a stunning scarf pin!

What is felting? There are two types of felting: wet and dry. Both methods can produce sheets or three-dimensional shapes.

Dry or needle felting involves "tangling" the fibers together using special barbed needles. It is a very time-consuming and often painful process. (I poke myself a lot!)

Wet felting is the process of fusing wool fibers using soap, water and agitation. It takes a bit of finesse and skill to get the results you want.
