Where The Wild Things Are. Maurice Sendak. If you've seen the movie and loved it, why not get your very own one of a kind crocheted Moishe?

I made Moishe by crocheting several different types of yarn into my version of Sendak's monster. And such a cute monster he is. I really enjoyed trying to capture Moishe's character in yarn. I reached deep into my stash to find suitable yarns and have used a mixture of acrylic and wool with felt and fabric features. The yarn used for the stripes is vintage needlepoint wool according to the aging wrapper. The rest is good old acrylic. A mixture of yarns just like this mixture of monster/beast.

The bushy hair and beard are individual strands of black acrylic yarn, hand cut, tied and knotted, one by one, around the loops of the crocheted head to get that wild hair-do. Time consuming yes, but so worth it, don't you think?

Moishe is 23.5" / 59.69cm from horn tip to toe claw tip. His tail is 11.5" / 29.21cm long and 9" / 22.86cm around the biggest part. His head, including that nose, is 17.5" / 44.45cm around. The hands, feet and bottom have stocking bundles filled with small aquarium pebbles for posing and sitting. Moishe is very squeezable thanks to all the poly-fill I stuffed into him.
