This color is positively yummy. This golden yarn is so soft and squishy, it really makes me think of the rich cake served in restaurants all over the island. I have yet to attempt to bake the cake myself,I'm better at knitting.

The term “upside down cake” was not a popular term before the middle of the 19th century, but the style of baking likely dates back all the way to the Middle Ages. In the earliest recipes for fruit “upside down cakes”, the desserts were made in cast iron skillets on top of the stove.

The classic American “Pineapple Upside Down Cake” most of us are familiar with dates back to the early 1900’s, when pineapple was first canned commercially. Most of the pineapple grown on Maui today stays on Maui. It is picked when ripe and brought immediately to market, yum.
