This darling OOAK (one of a kind) needle felted wool* house is part of a series called Carnation Road. The series is named in honor of the street my sweetheart grew up on in Strood, Kent, England.

Although they are not solid wool, the outer "walls" are made from roving I felt into sheets then onto the form. The houses measure approximately 2-3 inches wide and deep, 3-4 inches tall. Each one is unique, will not be duplicated and includes a signed tag.

What is felting? There are two types of felting: wet and dry. Both methods can produce sheets or three-dimensional shapes.

Dry or needle felting involves "tangling" the fibers together using special barbed needles. It is a very time-consuming and often painful process. (I poke myself a lot!)

Wet felting is the process of fusing wool fibers using soap, water and agitation. It takes a bit of finesse and skill to get the results you want.
