Price Reduced Vintage Aligator or Leather Purse in Chocolate Brown

More than a purse this is a pocketbook, that lovely old fashioned word...a gorgeous one that Hilda carried in the forties and fifties. I'm not entirely sure if it is alligator or stamped leather, but it is marvelous.

It is a dark chocolate brown. The brassy hardware has a rich patina. The skins are supple and shiny. The front & back have a small & large pattern in the reptile skin. The top clasp/closure bar is wrapped in skin as well and it folds over into the inside edge. Rectangular with rounded edges, it has a structured look, and subtle design touches like the slight widening of the strap in the middle.

Fully lined in very soft suede, with one metal zippered pocket and one slide pocket with a pleat.

It is in very good to excellent condition with a few minor scuffs. There is a red scuff on the lower edge, which can be repaired. The stitching in the strap has a few tiny gaps. The clasp snaps smartly.

It measures 12” wide at the base, 11" wide at the clasp, by 8” tall by 3.5” deep at the base. The handle has a 7” drop. No label. Other bags like this at other internet vintage sites are priced over $150.00. This is a wonderful bargain, thanks to Hilda.
