Twist and Shout - Matte Metallic Bead Crochet Necklace / Bracelet (2849)

You may think I've named this necklace 'Twist and Shout' because of its versatility -- this is one very long, continuous loop of intricately patterned beauty.

The real reason for the name is that I've finally stopped twisting in the wind and have FINISHED this piece, and I'm shouting for joy!

This gorgeous necklace (or bracelet, depending on how you choose to wear it!) is created from thousands of Czech glass beads in matte platinum, matte gold, and matte dark charcoal gray. It has a single row of dark matte gray triangular beads that twists its way around the length of the piece.

Because it's crocheted, it's very flexible and rope-like, and it's oh-so-comfortable to wear. It's just over 1/4" in diameter and a whopping 72" long. There's no clasp, so you can just wrap it around your neck two, three, or four times; or wrap it around your wrist eight or nine times for a bold and funky bracelet. Even more daring? Wear it as a belt!

For those of you who aren't familiar with bead crochet, it's a pretty involved process. First, each bead is strung onto the thread (in this case, heavy-duty nylon upholstery thread), following a pattern that's worked in reverse. Once all the beads are strung onto this looooong thread (in this case, more than 500' of beads), the crocheting begins. As each crochet stitch is worked, a single bead is moved into the stitch.

So there you have it.

Twist and shout.
