Girls Heart Batik Apron Top

Here's a super cute little apron top for a super cute little girl. The model in the picture is 4 years old. The top is orange and pink and purple hearts.

The top is made out of cotton muslin. I used a technique called batik to create the butterfly design. In batik, you paint areas with wax and dye the fabric. The wax prevents the dye from adhering. However, it does crack to let some dye seep through, creating unique and beautiful designs. You repeat the process with several colors to make more complex designs.

The top will fit a variety of sizes. It's 19" around the bust and 13" in length. The straps weave through the back of the bodice, so they are totally adjustable. The back is meant to be open, It's 19 inches around, so that would be the minimum size. The maximum size would be 19" plus how much back you want to show.
