One of my favorite creations - the Sun Bonnet Sue Fairy Pocket pillows are completely one of a kind! Each of these were lovingly cute from the same quilt that I believe dates from the 1930’s or 1940’s. It could have been older, not sure, but a lot of the fabrics are from old feed sacks. On the original quilt each Sun Bonnet Sue had been carefully hand sewn into place, with embroidery detailing that is a little bit different on each one. When I found this quilt it was falling apart and sections of it could not be saved. Rather than lose all of this incredible work I decided to create these Fairy Pocket Pillows as gifts. These make wonderful gifts, especially for the big brother or sister when all the attention is on the new baby.

HOW THESE WERE CREATED: I carefully cut out each appliquéd piece of handmade art, backed it with a print from the era and trimmed it with fluffy tulle wings. I also added a long ribbon for hanging and included a pocket on the back for a tooth or two.

PLEASE NOTE: Each fairy is different, even the ones with similar fabrics are a little bit different from each other. Also, because the quilt these came from is well over 50 years old there is wear and tear from normal use and it shows on some of these pieces. The worn spots and frayed edges are part of what make these so special. Pillows measure approximately 6” X 10”. If you have any concerns please just convo me for details before buying.
Just like this old quilt found new life to continue on, Sun Bonnet Sue Fairy Pocket Pillows are sure to be an heirloom that is passed down through the generations.
