Description

This painting explores my contemplative response to nature and sense of self/other. There is an influence of the Romantic painter, Caspar David Friedrich, who sometimes painted solitary figures looking into the landscape with their backs to the viewer of the painting, as if viewer and painted figure are looking at the same scene. Here however the picture plane is flattened and there is no horizon, but only an immediate sense of the ‘dark night of the soul’ which the figure faces.

Size: 23.5cm x 9.57cm

Support: Painting sits in relief (by 2.5cm) against a cream mount board surround within a box style light wood frame treated with bees wax. The frame forms part of the art work.

Dimensions of frame: 30cm H x 25cm W x 4.1cm D

Hanging: D-rings and wire on the back ready to hang with two bumpons to protect wall.

Signed: Signed by the artist on the front.
