Blue Sleeve

Description

This is one of the small paintings that I produced working from a sketch of myself looking in the mirror. Later I developed the sketch into some small compositions exploring my contemplative response to nature and sense of self/other. Here a slightly androgynous figure seemed to emerge out of the black landscape. After I had painted this one I was reminded of the painting by Titian called ‘Man with a Quilted Sleeve’ due to the puffy blue sleeve.

Frame/mount: Hand cut bevel edge mount using cream mount board within a light wood, deep rebate type frame treated with bees wax.

Hanging: Wire on the back ready to hang
