East meets West in this bookmark. With her exotic eastern style headress and golden wrap... ending in African paper for her skirt and cowboy boots. She is ready for ANYTHING you read and eager to be off on reading adventures with you, as your bookmark.

An old calendar found new life here as her tunic... over which I scraped metallic gold paint - one picture here, shot at an angle, really shows the lovely golden glimmer. Black paint, into which I scribbled makes a nice pattern in the middle - and the bottom is the robin's egg blue of the calendar over which I painted several rows of off-white dashes. Her skirt is made of wonderful black and white African paper over which I added white dots - let's pretend they're buttons! Rustic browns and amber toned fabric make her small, peaked hat -- half of which is a blue and yellow batik print, with accents of glittery gold dots, befitting the divine bookGoddess. I molded her face out of playdoh which I then painted to resemble well worn copper.. with a blue green, iredscent patina. This is one of those times when photography doesn't quite capture her loveliness.

9.25" tall X 2.5" wide (232mm X 65mm) - the PERFECT size for a bookmark. She'll enjoy being your bookmark whether it's a paperback or a large coffee table book. She makes a wonderful, unique gift for the teacher who has all the difference or a loved one who reads a lot or who you would like to encourage to read more.
