LOUISIANA LIVE OAK II Copper Sculpture Pendant Necklace with Gemstones

Description

This is a truly unique, naturalistic sculpture pendant representing a Live Oak tree. If you have ever visited my hometown of New Orleans, you will find these hundreds of years old beauties dotting the landscape. In this necklace I pay tribute to the gorgeous trees that have been around since the days when the French and Spanish ruled Louisiana, many of which were sadly lost to Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

The trunk and branches of the tree were designed using genuine copper wire that has been treated with a non-tarnish coating, so you will never need to polish them. It has been wrapped around a pure copper ring that is untreated, so the ring will develop the gorgeous patina of copper over the years and add rich variegation to the piece. It has been laboriously shaped into a delicate live oak tree, the leaves of which are crafted using chips of gorgeous green and salmon colored Unakite gemstones. There are also several nuggets of Tigers Eye gems to add variety.

The necklace is a simple strand of rustic brown glass with an occasional Unakite nugget. The hook and loop clasp is of copper and is fully handcrafted. This necklace measures approximately 16 inches and the pendant measures approximately 2 inches across. When worn, the pendant should hang right at the collarbone on most women, where it will truly be the highlight of any outfit.

Unakite is a colorful, organic looking olive green stone often associated with emotional balance, love and healing. Tigers Eye is a beautiful brown stone with a chatoyance (a shimmer similar to that seen when looking in the eye of a cat). Tiger Eye was reputed by the ancients to provide energy and luck to its wearer.
