Moonlight and Shadows Necklace

This was my entry into the Etsy Beadweaver's July Challenge "A Midsummer Night's Dream".

This necklace is my interpretation of the theme. The first thing that came to my mind was the shadows and dappled moonlight at night and how everything seems to glow in shades of purple. I also wanted to include stars, moon and of course, a fairy.

The necklace was created using Japanese seed beads in a "heather shell" color, midnight blue Delicas and pale purple 15/0s. The focal is a sleeve of the same beads embellished with Czech pressed stars with an aurora borealis finish, Czech pressed leaves, 4mm Swarovski crystals in purple velvet and violet and finished with a pewter charm of a smiling moon and a dancing fairy!

The necklace measures 18 inches long (46cm) in length and is just over a quarter of an inch wide (1cm). It is finished with sterling silver jump rings and a sterling silver lobster clasp, all of which can be covered by the floating focal sleeve to give the necklace a claspless look.
