She Who Remembers, 8"x10" Print

Wintun believe that the earth has had four evolutions and there are four stages to a girl becoming woman. This is a series of the four stages of earth and woman.

This is the second stage when woman comes into her thirties giving self. She is most likely a mother nurturing all around her. This second evolution of Earth was the mountain building time. Volcanoes were very active, covered all things with ash and stop the rivers flowing.

The vivid colors and clear images are representational. They are symbolic. They are personal and universal. The cerulean blue skies represent the healing power that seems to lie beyond yet within us all. The golden grass represents the illuminated knowledge the earth mother offers. The green grass is the giving of life the earth mother offers each of us. These are the background colors and reasons of the Honoring Mother series.
