Dress - The Little Black Vintage 1960's Dress Size 4

Description

This wonderful little black dress with princess seams is all dressed up and ready to go! Around the neckline are bronze beads with wonderful black faceted beads stitched on in a triangle shape.

It is in fairly good condition. There are several small spots where the outer fabric has worn off of the tricot on the underside. (Photo 5)

There are no tags, and I believe this dress was handmade. It is a heavy weight knit fabric that stretches around, but not up and down. There are heavy satin facings at the neckline and armholes that support the beading very nicely. The seams are extra wide and unfinished, but not ravelled.

It is 39 inches (99 cm) long from the shoulder seam to the hem. The following measurements are taken flat, from side to side, so they need to be doubled for around the body measurements.
bust: 18 inches (45.6 cm)
waist: 16.75 inches (42.5 cm)
hips: 17.5 inches (44.5 cm)
The hem is 19 inches across.

My size 6 model is 5 feet 8 inches (1.73 m).
Her measurements are
bust: 34 inches (86.5 cm)
waist: 27.5 inches (70 cm)
hips: 40.5 inches (103 cm)

This garment now resides in a smoke-free, cat-loving home.
