Frankenskirt No.1 LONDON CALLING

I LOVE making and rehabbing clothing from upcycled and vintage materials....I just don't do enough of it here on etsy. This is the first skirt in my "FRANKENSKIRT" series...where I use bits and pieces of different,found materials...stitch em' together to create a freakishly stylish one-of-a-kind creation for the unique-loving eco minded shopper.

LONDON CALLING is made from two vintage, Irish made tea towels...soft as ever...and an antique silk pillow case!The predominately red tea towel sports a Mounted Guardsman (it says so at the bottom..and..by Ulster too) The colors are vibrant and the print is reminiscent of a faery tale scene. I've added a stitched heart to the horse ( made from vintage fabric) which reads: "Home is where the heart is." The other tea towel is mostly a very light sky blue and dons a dapper looking John Cleese type with pin striped knickers, black jacket with a red corsage holding a breif case,a paper under his arm and an umbrella....and for even more fun,I've added a sew on googly eye and big, grey buttons to his sports coat.Near the bottom hem, I've added a bright blue and orange knit doily and an appliqued bunch of cabbage munching rabbits. Under slip is made from an antique white,silk pillow case. The pillow case is really old and a bit fragile...infact there were a few tiny holes and small stains that I've lovingly appliqued with small square patches...they only show if you lift the tea towel flaps though. Where the tea towels meet,I've added five metal eyelets per edge where the skirt laces up with vintage yarn and at the mid front is a vintage, faux jade costume pin ( removable) This skirt is meant to be worn with the lacing up the front and back but can also be worn with the lacing up the sides....also looks really cute with waist band around top of bust...as a tunic.

I don't own a serger....I think they're awesome but I prefer to stick with the old school stitch of my trusty machine. The waist band is stitched sturdily with no raw edging.While cleansing,please treat this garment with the gentleness that it deserves....HANDWASH IN WARM WATER,MILD DETERGENT AND HANG TO DRY AND PLEASE REMOVE BOTH LACING AND COSTUME JEWELRY PIN BEFORE WASHING.
This is a piece of wearable art that is super comfy and sturdy so don't be afraid to have fun in it but please be aware that the materials are pre-loved and in vintage condition which require a bit gentler handling when washing.

Should fit a Small/Medium but please read the measurements below for a fantastic fit!

Lenth of pillow case: 21" ( please keep in mind that the pillow case peeks out a bit at the slits and that it is semi-sheer so where you bestest white panties!
