This scent reminds me of sitting in our porch swing on a sultry warm Florida night with a gentle breeze blowing the sensuous fragrance of our neighbors’ gardenia trees across our yard. It has been 26 years since we left Florida, but every time I smell these bars I am reminded of those trees and the great lady who had planted those trees over 50 years before.

This is a lovely true gardenia scent, both romantic and sexy.

Why use handcrafted soap?

First, handcrafted soaps just feel good with their creamy rich lather. Why would you eat fast food when you could eat at your favorite gourmet restaurant?
Much commercially manufactured soap are detergents, meaning they are petroleum based. True commercial soap bars are mass produced via the continuous process method using low quality oils and fats, and contain little or no glycerin.
A Sensible World uses only cold process soap making, no heat is added to the mixture so the oils retain their healing properties. We also utilize a process called superfatting. Soapmakers use this method to ensure a softer, smoother, creamier, more emollient-rich bar of soap. In fact, superfatting leaves some of the luxury oils un-soponified (un-SOAP-a-fied), which results in a rich moisturizing bar of soap.

Glycerin is Good For My Skin

One of the most dramatic differences between handcrafted soaps and commercially manufactured soap is glycerin. Glycerin is a humectants that helps attract moisture to the skin. Without the natural moisture you have a soap that dries out the skin.

Did you know that most brand name soaps contain No Glycerin whatsoever?

Glycerin is a naturally occurring by-product of the soap making process. It is heavier than the other ingredients, so the soap must be stirred constantly to keep it incorporated within the mixture. Many manufacturers let the soap sit, drain off the glycerin to make those expensive clear bars, then add hardeners, chemicals, and perfumes and sell it as soap. Our handcrafted soaps keep all the naturally occurring glycerin which is why they are so soft and creamy!
At A Sensible World NO synthetic stabilizers like BHT and Trisodium EDTA are used in our soaps to prolong shelf life. These materials can be possible skin irritants and are often found in commercial soaps.

CARE OF YOUR SOAP BARS: We suggest that you keep your soap bars dry in between uses and out of the direct stream of water to ensure the long life of your bar of soap. Our bars are formulated to produce a hard, long lasting bar that produces a thick and creamy lather.
