Going Home

Description

I spotted this Wood Duck silently flying through the trees in Western Kentucky. The sun had just set and an evening mist was beginning to rise off the dense forest floor. Only his distinctive whistle alerted me to his presence.
He was obviously on his way to the nest for the night.
Wood Ducks are the only duck native to North America.

This painting was done on a 18x24 inch stretched canvas with Winsor Newton oil paints. It has never been varnished.
As you can see from most of my work .... I'm not big one for varnishing paintings. I think that is a choice for the collector to decide on ... to varnish or not to varnish.
This was painted in 1991 and has never been shown in a gallery or show.
