Brown Pelican handmade leather carving OOAK

Description

Inspired by the wild birds of the Coastal Bend of Texas and her love for wildlife such as the Brown Pelican, Fransie used her skills to carve this Brown Pelican in fullgrain veg tanned cowhide. This is OOAK, there is no other just like it.

The leather piece measures 9.4" x 8.8" and is ready to frame.

This is an original, realistic relief sculptured art by award winning wildlife artist. This piece is made from a single piece of leather, cut, carved and details burned into a single piece of full grain, veg tanned cowhide. Imperfections in the leather do exist, and whenever possible are incorporated into the art design.

The leather is treated with softener during the production to make the leather pliable and treat against mildew and longevity. Artist uses scalpels to cut the leather, various leather and sculpting tools to raise the design for an amazing 3D look. Meticulous detail is cut in with scalpel, burned in with fine pen burning tools or carved in with special tools. The back of raised areas is filled in with a special leather dust mixture, painted with multiple layers of acrylic paint and finally sealed in with matte leather finish. The process preserves each original art work for generations to come. Each piece signed and dated by artist.

The limitation of the best photography does not do justice to the intricate detail in the carving and the color achieved in the artwork. These pieces are ideal for gift giving for nature lovers, hunters, serious collectors and animal lovers.
