Call Me Business NECKLACE with handmade and handpainted recycled paper mache beads in brown tan gold turquoise red strung on turquoise ribbon

Description

This is my first ever necklace made with recycled paper beads! Bright, bold and beautiful!

I handmade these beads with the business section of an old phonebook. They are paper mache (hard to the touch) and painted with different shades of brown, turquoise, red and gold. The beads were then given a coat of sealer and strung on a thin (3mm) turquoise ribbon with knots between each bead.

I used a vintage button and a knotted loop for a makeshift toggle clasp. As you can see in the picture, the ends of ribbon are pretty long ~ these are so the necklace can be resized, and will be trimmed once you let me know the length you'd prefer. Right now it's about 20" long. The button is mother of pearl and is knotted with a bow onto the ribbon.

CARING FOR YOUR NECKLACE:

The sealer will protect the beads from some moisture (like if you're caught in the rain) but they really shouldn't be soaked in water. If they do get a bit wet, just dry them off right away and they should be fine. Being paper mache, they are pretty resilient, I've dropped a few of the beads and they were fine. But I don't think they would stand up to being stepped on.
