Reptile Brain - Original Oil Painting

Description

Part of my Vitkov series. The Reptilian brain is the part of the brain that we share with reptiles. It is responsible for all of our rage, xenophobia, fight or flight responses as well as basic survival. The actions as determined by the reptilian brain are unpredictable and can be viewed as primitive. However the reptilian brain is also a very sucessful brain scheme as it is one of our most ancient evolutionarily speaking. The portal in this painting refers to sacred geometry and represents an attempt to reach truth or the divine. The second figure must carry the reptilian child with him in his quest for truth and this causes him stress and anxiety.
