The Fantasy Barbarian Warrior Beaded Rabbit Fur and Suede Bikini OOAK
Description
Yes, I made this. Yes, I wore it, when I was 15 years younger, (none of your business) pounds lighter, and (also none of your business) cup sizes smaller. Blame it on the reading of too much John Norman and Sharon Green as an adolescent.Perfect for your next sci-fi/fantasy convention, or for a last minute Burning Man costume need!
The top to this outfit started out life as a hot pink bikini tank top. As it's all hand-sewn, there is some gapping now, and a bit of pink shows through. That could easily be corrected with a black sharpie, but maybe your barbarian warrior persona likes to flash a bit of hot pink to befuddle and confuse her opponents. I'll leave it up to you, the buyer, to decide. It’s covered in rabbit fur on the cups, and in suede everywhere else. The straps are accented with some geometric beadwork strips done on a beading loom and sewn on. It laces up the back, with hand-sewn eyelets.
The bottom is sections of belt-weight leather laced together, and fastened with a pewter Celtic knot patterned belt-buckle over the left hip. I paid $30 for the buckle new, if I remember correctly. It is included with the sale of the outfit. On the right hip is a flap for the attachment of a pouch or dagger sheath. More rabbit fur makes up the flaps in front and back, and a cotton loincloth arrangement is attached underneath for modesty’s purposes. It can be removed for cleaning.
I always wore this with underwear beneath, just in case someone decided to get funny, so there are no questions as to the sterility of the bottom. The grommets along the tops of the flaps are mainly for show, and not set, as the shanks weren’t long enough to go all the way through all the layers.
When I made this, I was a size 4, and a 34B/C. The bottom rides across the hips, and measures 32" across. There is room for another hole or two to be punched in the leather, with more room on the smaller side.
I wore this to Norwescon in 2000, and it had the (dubious?) distinction of having reduced John Travolta to wordlessness when he showed up to do a guest appearance and signing to promote the release of Battlefield: Earth.
Here is a picture of it actually on a body:

IMPORTANT NOTE: none of the accessories in this photo link above are included - the sale is only for the top and bottom shown in the sale picture listings above.
This piece comes from a smoke-free home, but we are owned by two felines, both of whom possess of white underbellies. I have always been of the opinion, however, that no outfit is complete without a smattering of cat hair.
