ABOUT THE WOODLAND REALM:

In Tolkien's writings, a large forest named Mirkwood was located east of the Anduin River in Middle-earth. Within this forest was the Woodland Realm, which was a kingdom of Silvan Elven ruled by the Sindarin lord, Thranduil. Legolas, who became part of the Fellowship of the Ring, was the son of Thranduil, King of the Woodland Realm of Northern Mirkwood. Thranduil is the "Elvenking" in Tolkien's The Hobbit.
