SALE Bark Plate

Description

I hand built this wall piece using stoneware clays. I use part of a tree branch to deeply impress into the thick clay around the edges and the back of the piece. I draw my inspirations from trees and bark and try to convey a portion of these textures into my work.

The asymmetrical form creates an interesting display with other types of ceramic tiles or plates. The variation on the top surface comes from the soda kiln firing. There are seashells and ash deposits that create the various tones and flashing marks. Each one of these pieces is completely unique from another and it is fun to make an arrangement of them that are all similar yet have different colors and tones.

The piece rests flat on the table. This can also be displayed on the wall, there is a copper wire loop on the back that is ready to use for hanging. It could be used as decoration on the wall or table, or pulled out for food uses, too. Many people use them for sushi plates, or cheese and crackers, etc.

You'll see in one of the images here the back of the piece, with the copper wire loop. Also, you can see a picture of where I have them displayed hanging on the wall.
