Traditionally the warthog is not known for its great looks but in this intaglio there is an attempt to reverse that thought. I've always been interested in how ornament, pattern and framing can affect the object or image it surrounds. In this case the detailed ornamental work surrounds a warthog. The warthog because of the ornament is elevated and in a sense changes its nature into something ugly into something beautiful. This piece like the "Angler fish" is part of a series that I was working on.

There is a beautiful chine cole' inside the center of this image. A Cole' is a piece of paper that sits on top of another paper. However the difference between it and a collage is that the cole' is ran through the press at the same time as the entire print.
