Suggested qualifications before Buying this tutorial:


Does the tutorial contain all of the information found in “Obsessions in Wire”? NO, the tutorial contains none of the background information nor does it offer the option of changing the shape and size of the faceted stone the way the book does. It’s really important for you to understand that this tutorial starts where the book stopped.

Can I complete the tutorial without having bought the book?

That depends a lot on your experience working with square wire and prongs. IMHO if you’ve never worked with square wire to create prongs then go back through your copy of “Obsessions In Wire” before starting this tutorial. If you’ve never seen a copy of “Obsessions in Wire” then this may not be the tutorial for you.

I only have round wire must I use square wire to set the faceted stone?

Yes, using square wire in this instance isn’t a personal choice, the unique nature of the wire being square is needed so the wires lie close to each other which allows for a tighter fit with wires that are less prone to twist and slip.

How long will it take to complete the ring design?

Again this depends on each artist’s ability, patience, and how quickly they work. For me to create the ring it usually takes me 21/2 to 3 hours. Much better than the 1½ years I spent creating the first one, lots of trial and error was spent in that 1½ years. For an experienced wire worker creating this ring for the first time it may take them 4 to 5 hours, however as with most designs the more often we use them the quicker we become at getting the job done.
