Lampwork Museum Repro 100BC by Kate D-W
Description
I generally spend my summers with fellow glass workers in Le Treport, in Normandy, France, who have a gallery called "Verre Mer" They make, among other things, museum reproductions of beads found in the area from the Meringovian period. (400 to 800 AD)I have been making some beads from that period for my gallery in Arizona, and also some from earlier times. This bead has had the surface broken down in the process of making it, to replicate the surface of a bead from that period. Thsi particular style of bead is also typical of the "Jerusalem Glass", circa 300 AD.
So, it is simple, but arresting, a lovely bead for a man in my opinion. I deliberately don't set these beads on anything else but a fairly thick black cotton cord, to continue the timeless feel of them. I will put up more soon. It has a lovely feel and weight, not heavy, but just right!
