Hand-Embroidered Brooch--Let the Sun Shine Down on Me
Description
Can't you just feel the sun beating down on that house and tree? Worked with cotton floss on silk in satin stitch and modified buttonhole stitch. The grass is worked loosely to let the yellow silk show through. Once I've worked the embroidery, I sew it to a backing of cotton muslin, with a couple of pieces of stiffened felt between the muslin and silk to give it a little rigidity. Finally, the whole thing is finished with a border of seed beads sewn securely to the edge. Two tie tac pin backs mean you can get it just so.
