Here is a really nice stone that has a good shape to set it in a backless peyote bezel. This time, I gave it a double crown. Large faceted beads form the large crown and is set off with a smaller crown in fresh water pearls. All of this finished with nice silver colored small beads. I added a bail large enough so it's interchangeable! You can wear it on the black wax cord necklace or wear it on a chain or cord you already own. In other words, you can easily adapt it to your personal style!

I personally handpicked this particular stone on a southern cretan beach this June and if you are interested in reading the full story on that, then please keep on reading!

The stone was beautiful in color and so smooth all by itself, I could use almost any color beads I wanted. I chose very pale salmon pink large facet beads and bright pink/purple fresh water pearls, edged by silver beads. For the setting and bail I picked simple matte black delica beads.

This pendant comes standard with a 22-24" black or brown cord that can simply be knotted at the back to any length you want, so it's ready for immediate wear. :-))

The pendant itself is 1 1/4 inch wide (3cm) and 1 1/2 inches long (3,7cm) with the bail included.

Early this year I learned how to set a cabochon in peyote stitch, and backless too! And I loved it. In fact, I love it so much I can't seem to stop doing more of them! In class we started out with Swarovski rivolis, but actually you can just about use anything you like! I've started a collection of cameos too now, and it's huge already. I will make pendants with some of these too. And why not stones? That's right! Just a simple stone that has a good shape!

I love Greece, and most of all a little village in the south of Crete! This is our heaven-on-earth spot for vacations. This year when we went to the beach I had an additional purpose. I had brought my beads with me on holiday and now I was on a mission. I was gonna look for some nice stones to set in a peyote bezel. The first time I went looking for some nice beach stones was very much a hit-and-miss, but since I had my beads with me, I quickly learned what shapes worked well so the next few times I looked for the right kind of stones. They all looked so pretty and nice when they are wet in the water! The sea treats them with a good tumble over the years which gives them a smooth edge. But what a disappointment when you let them dry on your towel. As they dry they start looking rather bland. It got me thinking. How could I give them their shine and luster back? I'll get to that in a second. There was another lady on that same beach looking for stones. I remember thinking "I know why I'm here looking for stones but why is she?" It turns out she was a goldsmith looking for stones to set in rings and pendants! And Mrs Goldsmith gave me a great tip to give the stones their shine and luster back. I'm now treating the stones as per her instructions. Shh, no I'm not going to tell, secret of the trade, you know? :-))
The result: now the stones look fantastic again, and all the details come out so much better! The stones are wondrous!!
