My new series of journaling books are created from upcycling rejected prints. You can see the rejection process clearly in the differences in these books. Sometimes a print is too light or too blurry with water to stay in the edition Sometimes the ink is the correct color but a slip of the hand creates a blotch. Even though these prits are rejected from the edition, they are still viable works on their own and take on a beautiful new life as the covers of these journals. All the designs for these covers were mostly derived from upcycled japanese woodblock prints. This particular specimen utilizes branches and needles from the tree prints as well as chinese text and a honey colored paper with butter yellow flowers. The torn lantern is from a rubber stamp carved by the artist. Each book is a one of a kind.
