SHATTERED 9/11

Description

This image had been in my head since that terrible day.
I was working in my office a few miles from Ground Zero.
I immediately went down to St. Vincent's Hospital, which was between my office and the tragedy, to see if I could help in some way. The ambulances never came.
The image of the ladder-like skeletal remains of the once magnificent Twin Towers brought to my mind a quotation from Genesis 28 v.12: "Behold a ladder set on earth and the top of it reached to Heaven"and the image in this painting took shape in my mind. The remains of the towers reaching toward heaven with the souls of the departed rising in the columns of light symbolized by shards of multi colored glass.
This was the first painting I did when I retired from my Graphic Design business and moved to Tucson in 2005.
