Natural Beeswax Encaustic Collage Painting!

This piece is created on a lovely luan panel allowing the smooth grain to show in the finished piece. Starting with a hand carved, printed woodblock print in light green, I then added hand drawn circles in chocolate brown, a vintage red X and incised red circles for added texture, all mixed with clear encaustic medium.

The edges of the painting are finished with chocolate brown beeswax to add texture to all sides of the work. The painting is layered with rich natural beeswax and damar resin to create a luminous modern abstract. I also use oil paints and pure pigments in my wax to create color.

The painting is ready to hang and is painted on a solid piece of luan panel that is .5" thick. The piece is signed on the back and requires no special care besides keeping it away from extreme heat or cold (no fireplaces or stoves please!) or very very hot windows. Encaustics are VERY stable when kept within normal home temperatures (under 150 degrees!) but I like to put this warning in anyways!
