The Rainbow Series of Pendants - Juxtaposition

Description

Many strips of wood glued together and cut into various shapes .... the rainbow series.

I had fun with this one by starting with a simple shape cut from purpleheart. From there I took a piece of the striped wood block and played until I found an interesting way to meld the two together. I love the fun angles it created for the eye to explore. The pendant measures roughly 1 1/2" by 1".

Woods used in the series include - yellowheart, padauk, lacewood, ebony, mahogany, purpleheart, zebrawood, and rosewood. Depending on how each shape was cut determines what kinds of wood make it into each individual pendant. Each piece is finished with a clear coat of varnish to let the natural colors of the wood shine through.
