Purple Pinstripes Apron - Upcycled Denim and Cotton

Description

The Purple Pinstripes Apron is fairly conservative, compared to some of the other aprons I've made, but still has a special charm. Upcycled from an old pair of jeans and a lavender and purple striped blouse, this apron features five functional (though small) pockets and zigzag topstitching.

The bulk of the apron is stretch denim--cotton and spandex blend. The button fly has been removed completely, and the raw edges are finished off with the cuffs from the blouse. Across the bottom of the apron, the bottom of the 100% cotton shirt forms the ruffle. The ties are constructed from the neckband and the buttonhole side of the front of the shirt.

The remaining waistband of the jeans measures approximately 27 inches (68.5 cm), and the ties add 34 more inches, for a total of 61 inches (155 cm). This apron will fit any waist size from about 27 inches to about 50 inches, to allow for enough of the ties to form a knot. At the center of the apron, the length is 15 inches (38 cm), and at the sides of the apron, the length is 12 1/2 inches (32 cm).

This apron can be machine washed and dried. The edges of the cotton may fray slightly when washed, but this will not affect the integrity of the apron.
