Three Sisters Three Treasures
Description
This piece was inspired by a road trip with my two beloved sisters. The three of us hadn't spent time just with each other for decades. The circle motif is a riff on the Japanese enso--calligraphy circle, symbol of, well, Just This, Enlightenment, the universe...what it is!Make sure you zoom on the second thumbnail pic to see the piece in its entirety. Three Treasures refers to the Buddhist idea of the Buddha, the Dharma (the teachings), the Sangha (community). I've tried to capture the exuberance and sheer joy of our sisterhood, ragged edges and all.
The materials include hand-dyed and hand-stamped cottons, commercial cottons, machine quilting. The piece can be used as a wall hanging or also as a runner. the size is 30 7/8 inches by 13 1/4 inches.
Signed, stamped with my seal and titled on the reverse side.
