skull and bones handbound book

Description

the dimensions for this hefty handbound book are about 4 1/2" x 6", and about 1 1/4" thick at the spine and 2 1/2" at the open end when lying on its back.

the cover was hand crafted out of sculpey to resemble bones! the sculpey was then burnt a little in the oven to create the great reddish (blood?) color, highlighting the skull and bones in the center of the front.

the paper used is crisp georgia-pacific acid-free 110lb white card stock. all of the pages were tea-stained and baked to make them look old and crackly! there are 8 signatures of 3 sheets each, to make a grand total of 96 pages. the signatures were stitched together with natural lightly waxed 4-ply linen thread using the coptic binding method. as a result, the pages will lay flat and you can write all the way into the margins!

a long strand of the linen thread has been tied to the top row of stitching, to be used as a bookmark. the bottom end is linked to a cute little bone, also hand crafted from sculpey!
