Black bird leather cut out mask
Description
I wanted to design some masks that were really different, and I thought about how the only requirement for a wearable mask was that there were holes to see out. I imagined starting with that shape as part of the design, and building from there, using the cut out space as a positive.I came up with two designs: A bird and a flowering plant. This one is the bird, and as you can see the eyeholes become part of the wings. I really like this one, and think it is quite original.
Made of 3-4 oz vegetable tanned leather, wet-formed and shaped to fit the face. It is very lightweight and comes with a double strand of elastic that is adjustable for wearing comfort. Protected with a coat of acrylic sealer.
