Antique Chinese Ginger Jar Pique Assiette Mosaic Vase

Description

This piece is so special that it's almost easiest to let the photos speak for it. Bottom line: a Texan art collector owned a very expensive and very large antique Chinese ginger jar. It broke. I got the pieces. This is the third and final vase I will be able to make from the remnants. (A California antique collector owns the first two.) The colors and patterns are amazing. So as not to detract from the intricacies of the vase, I added just blue and red solid shards to showcase them.

I chose antique white grout that I tinted the lightest blush pink. I later added copper leafing to the upper inside of the neck. The vase is very heavy and measures 13" tall and 28" across the widest part. It would certainly hold live flowers if the standing water levels stay below the leafing.
