Esther Williams (Celebrity Bathing Suits Series)

Description

This is linoleum block print using Graphic Chemical oil-based ink on paper. Watercolor is tipped-in later.

Edition size is limited to 10 prints. They are signed and numbered on the front with graphite. It measures 3.5 x 5 inches. The image measures 2 x 3 inches.

I was being a mouse-potato, poking around online, when I saw a tantalizing link: "CELEBRITY BATHING SUITS!" It was too tempting to pass up. I clicked and downloaded a few. Then I got out out the sketchbook.

Celebrity Bathing Suits -- The Series, was born.

Esther Williams made her mark in nutty swimming movies. They were elaborately choreographed and dazzling to watch. She broke her neck filming one of these over-the-top swimming musicals.

Apparently, she had a tryst with the actor who played Tarzan. She dumped him because his on-screen persona was very similar to his actual personality.
