Love-- Gray Clamshell Box

Description

Is it a book? Is it a box? It’s both, it’s a clamshell box.

This box is made with traditional bookbinding techniques, meaning, there is a gray sturdy book cloth all the way around thick book board. The interior has a paper covered “lip” to hold the box secure, and a white (and smidge of blue) covered box area. The blue portion wraps from the interior of the box, to the outside, and around to the back. The cover also has a collage of paper, of a housewife, and the word “love.” The box can lay flat, or stand up on it’s own.

The dimensions: 7 ¾ inches tall (19.685 cm), 5 7/8 inches wide (14.92 cm), 1 5/8 inches thick (4.127 cm).

A clamshell box is a traditional art that is one part bookmaking, and one part printmaking, as they are often used to hold prints, samples, or portfolio pieces. But you can use this box to hold whatever fits inside, from paper notes, to photos, to small nick nacks.
