Fine Silver Gryphon Pendant

Description

I have always been fascinated by medieval bestiaries, those compilations of animals both mundane and fantastic, with simple by striking illustrations of each "beast". My goal here was to create a similar clean design of a gryphon, a creature reputed to be half eagle and half lion.

I made this fine silver (ie, .999 pure silver, which is purer than sterling silver) pendant from PMC. I kiln-fired the piece, burnished it, patinated it and then polished it to bring out the lines of the design. I then added a sterling silver jump ring to finish it. This pendant is hefty, at approximately 45.5mm in diameter.

The gryphon would look great strung simply on your favorite sterling chain or on a black cord. Cords and chain are available from my shop. There is no additional shipping charge for the cord if purchased with a pendant. For a more ornate look, this pendant would look stunning strung with a strand of turquoise.
