These dots just show up everywhere! I started painting and then glazing with dots more than 15 years ago now-- and i still can't get enough of them. Painting every single little dot is like a meditation for me, and whenever i have spent so much time with a piece, carefully dotting and painting over the entire surface, i really feel like i have put a piece of my soul into it. That is how i feel about this tray/platter. It was handbuilt from white earthenware clay and then painted in a wash of ochre colored underglaze. Then the fun really began and the design was carefully applied with some very small brushes in warm and then contrasting cool colored glazes. I also used some black and white raised glaze elements for some of the dots, and so these have wonderful texture and add another fun dimension to the piece. The back is glazed in clear glaze - and "signed" with a great bar-code stamp that i purchased here on etsy from terbearco.etsy.com. This tray/ platter is truly a labor of love and one of my favorite types of design to do when i have the time.

This piece measures 11.5" long and is 8" wide. It is a perfect size for serving all kinds of things- pile it high with roasted veggies at your holiday table, or set it out at a party laden with brownies, or a wheel of brie and some crackers. It would make a wonderful gift for someone special, or a beautiful piece to add to your own collection of serving pieces. When not in use, it would be very happy being displayed on your counter or hutch.
