“Beauty is unbearable, drives us to despair, offering us for a minute the glimpse of an eternity that we should like to stretch out over the whole of time.”
~ Albert Camus

“A Little Tale”…

For hundreds of years, humans, faeries, elementals, sprites, goblins, wizards, and even members of the Unseelie (unholy) Court were in awe and spoke of Witch Helenia Spellbinder’s beauty. There was no one living or dead who could compare with her breathtaking beauty with her flawless skin, big almond shaped green eyes, long shiny raven hair, rose pedal colored soft lips, and high cheek bones.

And Helenia Spellbinder reveled in all this praise and awe. She spent hour upon hour of her life tending to her beauty and gazing at herself in her castle filled with mirrors, as well as in lakes, ponds, and any other reflective surface.

Not only was her beauty beyond compare, but she surrounded herself with beautiful things which she searched the world over to find and possess: silver perfume bottles, diamonds, silver candle holders, imported crystal perfume bottles, a hand tooled ancient hand mirror with an embedded emerald, a rare sculpture of the Goddess for which she had a special base created, and lavish shoes.

But, sadly, as with anything and everything, the cycle of life turns and with it youth and beauty fade. Time does not stand still for anyone no matter how beautiful, young, rich or powerful. It is the Law of Nature.

As her beauty started to fade, Helenia Spellbinder sought out wizard after wizard witch after witch to help her find the fountain of youth. She tried and used crèmes, masques, anti-aging potions, spells, incantations, and anything she could find, sadly, but it was all in vain.

Her beauty was fading and fading fast. The harder and faster she tried to save her beauty, the quicker it seemed to fade. Time, once her friend, had now become her enemy. She was obsessed with time and counted every second.

And as each new wrinkle appeared, rather than seeing it as a sign of life’s wisdom, long life or knowledge gained, Helenia Spellbinder became more vain, angry, and hateful. She had spent and wasted her entire life devoted only to retaining and maintaining her beauty and she was left with nothing. No wisdom, no knowledge, no life experiences; only hate, anger, self pity, resentfulness, and an empty soul.

As her beauty faded and her hate inside grew, she not only lost her beauty but she became ugly. She retreated into the deep dark woods near the pond where Merlin the Great had lived so many years ago and refused to see anyone. The faeries, elementals, and others now spoke of her as someone to be avoided, dreaded, and pitied.

The last news heard about Helenia Spellbinder was that she found out about a man, while she still continued her search to regain her beauty, who had solved the Philosopher’s Stone and with it, found the formula for eternal youth and life. She had set off to find this man in her eternal quest to regain her lost beauty and youth.

And, that is how I came to be in possession of this hutch once owned by the once beautiful beyond compare Witch Helenia Spellbinder…

“The Scoop”…

You will not find another hutch as well crafted, detailed, and filled with so many one-of-a kind, handmade items, plus signed and dated, anywhere for this price.

In making this miniature dollhouse scale (1:12) pine hutch, I applied by hand, not sprayed, four coats of non toxic paint, sanded, brushed, and damp washed each layer before applying the next one.

The hutch itself stands approximately 5 1/2” tall and at its tallest point, it’s approximately 6”. It is 4 1/4” wide, including the portion of Leroy’s, the bat, wing that extends out from the hutch.

On the top of the hutch, right in front, is a glamorous frou-frou shoe. On the very top shelf stand a bottle of “Unicorn Skin” and a bottle of “Face Masque”, both used with the hope of stopping the aging process, a scrying ball, and a jar. And, in back is a handpainted “enchanted and magical” oval mirror with colors that match the hutch. On front, the top shelf’s edge has a pale pink with glitter feminine ribbon across it. On one side of the hutch is a mirror and on the other side, an aged clock.

The hutch is filled with numerous one of kind handmade items that a witch trying to save her lost and faded beauty would acquire and posses, such as: a book entitled, “Lightening Age Spots”; face crème and a bowl filled to the brim with this green face crème (It seems as though Helenia Spellbinder was about to treat her complexion.); a scrying and a crystal ball; her magic wand; her bat, Leroy; an hour glass; numerous mirrors; an “ancient” etched brass hand mirror with an embedded “precious” gemstone; bottles of different types of anti-aging products, such as “Pond Scum” (Do you really that that works?); “diamond” jewelry (The rhinestones are vintage circa 1930’s.); and a gorgeous purple tall statute of the Goddess on a “silver” base encircled in a purple with silver ring.

But, that is all I am going to tell you. It is up to you to discover all the enchantments, secrets, delights, and surprises I made for you.

As Samuel Taylor Coleridge said, “Imagination is the living power and prime agent of all human perception.” So, have fun looking and using your imagination.

I make my hutches one at a time… from start to finish. There is no assembly line in my workshop. No elves either. For this reason, this is truly one-of a-kind. I keep no written “recipes” for the color or instructions for the items I create to put into/on my hutches. Pieces on this hutch are from nature or created at the time I was working on it from materials at hand at that time.

This is an original design, story, and idea of mine.

This is not a toy. However, it was made to be used and enjoyed. From a smoke free home, this hutch comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. It is signed and dated.
