Freesia Tile Trivet

Description

This is what I think a Freesia looks like. I have painted this design on a six inch porcelain tile (~15cm) and put it into a hardwood frame. The result is what you see in the photo.

The china painting process is permanent and the design is fired onto the tile. It will not wash off. The process is that the paint is applied in layers and each layer is fired to about 1400 degrees. The more layers and firings the more vibrant the color. This tile was fired four times.

We use these trivets in my home and put hot things on them. When not in use we hang them on the kitchen wall or display them on the countertop or the stovetop.
