St. John the Baptist Icon, Fine Art Print, 11 x 14
Description
Third in a series of icons. The originals are made of cut paper and mixed media. My inspiration is Byzantine iconography, and I like bold color.The text across the top of the picture reads, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand"--the core of St. John's message. The figure gestures toward the cross he holds--as St. John pointed the way toward Jesus Christ. In the background flows the Jordan River, where John baptized. The border is made of blooms and foliage of the mustard plant, which Jesus used as a metaphor for the Kingdom of Heaven proclaimed by himself and John.
This print is available in all sizes and formats listed for my other icons, and in custom sizes--please inquire!
