"The Sea" by Otagiri Japan { Signed Lacquerware Tray }

Lacquered tray reflects classically simple and stylized Japanese design. Scene of ocean birds and waves. Background color is light navy blue (may look erroneously darker in some of the photos). Antique gold colored rim. Back is signed "The Sea", copyright Otagiri Japan (see inset photo). Also, on back is a sticker with cleaning instructions.

~ .75" deep

The tray is in respectable vintage condition. It does indeed look like it has been loved and used. There are light hairline scratches widespread across the face which was difficult to capture with my camera due to the reflection of the high gloss lacquer finish. There are no significant chips or other damage, just the aforementioned light scratches including some minor scratches to the artwork itself plus a few scuffs and minor nicks front and back.

This tray would look fantastic hung or propped up on a shelf. Simple and lovely.
